How to Start a Fire
St. Catherine of Siena is my confirmation saint. I am not sure why I chose her 21 years ago, but I am pretty sure that she chose me! As an adult, I find myself so fascinated with St. Catherine – I love her passion for Jesus and her ability to show her burning love for Him to all around her! A quote of hers has been sort of a mantra for me:
I want to be that person – someone who will set the world on fire with my passion for my faith, marriage, children, and vocation as a teacher. I find myself thinking sometimes that it is so hard to do everything right, but I have found that focusing on the things that work has been my key to living positively and with peace. Why “ever learning catholic?” Well, as a teacher, I believe you should stop and wake up to reality when you think you already know everything. There is always more to learn and I am a lifetime student when it comes to the Catholic faith I was born into and so blessed to be a part of. Being open to that is when we realize that God has given us the capacity to go further…to seek Him out and bring others to Him by fulfilling our purpose for which we were created.
In this blog, I will share with you the things that have worked for me that I know will work for you: parenting ideas, teaching tips and resources, book recommendations, and just general observations and “a-ha” moments that have helped me to grow to become the best version of myself. I’m not there yet, but by the grace of God, I hope to make it! It is hard working full-time and keeping God, marriage, and children a priority, but I hope we can be on this journey together, and find the things that work!
I would love to hear from you! How are you “starting a fire” in your own part of the world?
